Privacy policy
Last updated August 23, 2026
This policy explains what Protealpes (protealpes.net) collects when you use the website, how that information is used, and the choices you have. It covers first-party analytics, Google Analytics, AI tool submissions, hosting logs, and advertising cookies used to show Google ads.
We do not require an account. We do not run a food diary. We do not sell your personal information.
Who is responsible
Protealpes operates this educational website. Privacy and data requests: [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you send us
If you email [email protected], we receive whatever you include in that message — typically your email address and the text of the request. Do not send medical records, lab results, or photos of other people.
If you use an AI tool, you may submit a meal description, a photo of food, or similar text. That content is used only to return a result for that request. We do not keep a public meal history or a user profile built from those submissions.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and hosting provider may log IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. These logs exist to run, secure, and debug the site.
First-party analytics events record a tool or guide name and an action type (for example view, complete, or copy). They do not include meal text, photos, body measurements, or email addresses.
Google Analytics 4 records page views, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, and referral source. Google processes that data under its privacy policy. Details: Google Analytics data practices. You can limit Analytics cookies with the opt-out add-on.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies, pixels, and local storage may be used for essential site function, analytics, and advertising. Details and opt-out links are on the cookie policy.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense and related Google advertising services to display ads. This section uses the disclosures Google requires of AdSense publishers.
- Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site. Those companies may set their own cookies. You can read how Google uses data in advertising in Google's advertising technologies policy and Google's privacy policy. Additional opt-out tools are available from the Network Advertising Initiative and, for many European users, Your Online Choices.
Ads are selected by Google and its partners. We do not control every ad you see. An ad is not a recommendation from Protealpes, and it is not medical advice.
Where required by law — including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland — we obtain consent for advertising cookies and for the collection, sharing, and use of personal data for ads personalization through a Google-certified consent management platform before personalized ads are served.
AI requests and processors
Text and photos you submit to an AI tool are sent to OpenAI so we can return a structured nutrition estimate. Photos are processed to produce that result and are not stored by Protealpes as a photo library. OpenAI processes the request under its terms and data policies. Do not upload images of faces, children, ID documents, or anyone who has not agreed to the upload.
How we use information
- To operate calculators, AI tools, guides, and this website.
- To answer email you send us, including privacy requests.
- To keep the site secure and to measure which tools are used.
- To display ads that help fund the free tools.
- To comply with law or respond to a valid legal request.
How we share information
We share information with service providers who help us run the site: hosting and content delivery, OpenAI for AI tools, and Google for advertising and Google Analytics measurement. Those companies process information under their own terms.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. Advertising cookies used by Google and its partners may still involve sharing of device and browsing data as described above. That is advertising technology, not a sale of a food log or an email list.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the site or other people, or as part of a reorganization of the project — in which case this policy would still apply or you would be told what changed.
Children
The site is a general-audience educational resource. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Browser controls: you can block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may break parts of the site or ads.
- Personalized ads: use Ads Settings, aboutads.info, or the NAI opt-out.
- Email us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete a message you sent. Server logs and third-party ad cookies are not something we can fully erase from every vendor on request, but we will handle what we control.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may also have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a right, email [email protected] with enough detail to find your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Retention and security
Email is kept long enough to answer you and to handle a follow-up. Analytics events are aggregated or discarded; they are not a personal food record. Hosting logs are kept for a limited operational period. AI submissions are processed to return a result and are not stored by us as a user account. No website is perfectly secure. Do not submit information you cannot afford to transmit over the internet.
International visitors
The site may be hosted and processed in the United States or other countries. If you visit from elsewhere, you understand that information may be processed outside your home country, including by Google and OpenAI.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after an update means you have read the new version.
